I was on a roll, then I wasn’t.  You are probably wondering what happened, or maybe you’re not; regardless, I will share.  Sorry, this is a process, and I need to strike a balance, but I also need to be consistent and not get distracted by the newest shiny object. Otherwise, I fall into the trap of taking a more extended break than intended. Sometimes it is a productive break; other times I simply get distracted.  This time, it is a combination of both.

I have discovered knitting mittens, and they have become my newest obsession.  I have been watching tutorial videos and learning to knit.  I can knit big chunky blankets; I can knit a big square; I mastered that a few years back.  Ask most people I know who received blankets as gifts because it took over all my free time, and not so free time to be honest. I would be knitting a blanket everywhere I went, until I wasn’t.

I was at a football game recently, and my hands were cold, so now it’s mittens.  It’s been days, but I’ve got about a quarter of the first mitten done. After approximately ten tries, I have not started over; I am determined to learn.  It turns out knitting a big square is very different than most any other knitting project.  I will probably spend the rest of the day fixated on these mittens, but watch out because I will become a mitten-knitting machine if I can figure this out.  Until I get bored and maybe move on to a matching hat or sweater, you will all get mittens, mistakes and all.  I ask you to pretend you like them because it will increase the likelihood you will receive one of my next projects that take over my life.  Maybe a matching hat or scarf.

Well, I have explained why my five-day roll ended.  I need to go back to knitting and writing a post for the next few days.  I am going to use this latest fixation to learn to balance my days more effectively.  Gotta go,  there are only a few days left for me to make all the gifts.
